M3A5
Grant Mark II early/mid/late prod (UK, WW2)
The
M3 Grant is based on the M3 Lee, from which the British requested a number
of modifications, including a new radio-equipped turret. First used in
combat in May 1942 during the Battle of Gazala. As the M3's engine, the
M3A1, was problematic as it was also used in aviation, a new engine was
developed. It consists of two bus engines assembled. The M3A5 is almost
identical to the M3A3, but has a riveted rather than welded hull.
