Soviet
BA-20
Armored Car
The BA-20 armored car was a light armored vehicle developed by the Soviet
Union in the 1930s. It was designed to provide reconnaissance and support
for infantry units, and was widely used in the early stages of World War
II. The vehicle was based on a civilian truck chassis, and was armed with
a single 7.62mm machine gun mounted in a turret on the roof. It had a crew
of two and was capable of carrying up to four passengers. Although it was
lightly armored and relatively slow, the BA-20 was highly maneuverable and
well-suited for reconnaissance missions. Its compact size and agility
allowed it to operate in areas that were inaccessible to heavier armored
vehicles, making it a valuable asset on the battlefield. Despite its
limitations, the BA-20 remained in service throughout the war and played a
significant role in many of the Soviet Union’s early victories.
