StuG
III Ausf G "Sturmi" Finland
The
Stug III G known as the Sturmi by the Finns was purchased from Germany
during WW2 as the Winter War had proved that the Finns existing armour was
antiquated. As the Finns loved to do, many modifications were made which
makes the Finnish Sturmi distinct from its German counterparts. Most
recognisable of these changes are the addition of the rear stowage box,
logs along the side of the hull and the addition of concrete reinforcement
to the frontal armour. In addition the German mg34 was not used on top of
the hull but rather captured DP-27 machine guns.
